Amy Winehouse's dress $67k sold
A polka dot chiffon dress worn by singer Amy Winehouse on the cover of her hit album Back to Black has been sold for £43,200 at an auction.The north London singer's dress was bought by the Museo de la Moda, a fashion museum in Santiago, Chile.

Winehouse's father Mitch said he was "over the moon" that the designer, Disaya, donated the proceeds to a foundation set up in her memory.The 27-year-old singer was found dead at her flat in Camden in July.The dress worn by the late Amy Winehouse on the front of her Back to Black album cover has sold for £43,200 as part of the Passion for Fashion auction.


The singer's father Mitch watched as the dress was snapped up by a fashion museum in Santiago, Chile.

The proceeds will go to the Amy Winehouse foundation, the charity set up following her death, and to the Winehouse family.

“We want to give money to projects that make a direct difference. It is a source of great comfort to know that Amy

would be proud of this and right behind it."

He added: "Obviously we want to try and raise money for the family and the grandchildren so that they will be able to be helped by Amy too in the years to come so that was very important. We all need to survive."

Thai designer Disaya was approached in 2006 asking if she would lend a dress to the as yet unknown Amy Winehouse for an album cover shoot.

Although it was Amy’s second album, her stylist had been met with reluctance on the part of many of the leading fashion designers they initially approached.Back to Black went on to sell over 3.2 million copies.
