It's not every day a star is reborn at 88… and then goes on to celebrate her 89th birthday among famous faces, friends and adoring fans — all after a full day of appearing on the top talk shows (The View, Good Morning America, David Letterman), as Betty White did on Wednesday.

Stars and well-wishers came in from a wintry New York City day to the candlelit warmth of Le Cirque, a legendary restaurant adorned with photos of Woody Allen, Kirk Douglas and Richard Nixon. TV alum such as Stefanie Powers (Hart to Hart), Nichelle Nichols  and Ana Gasteyer shared red carpet space with White's contemporaries, Sherri Shepherd and 30 Rock's Judah Friedlander and Jack McBrayer, and TV Land co-stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick, along with Retired at 35's George Segal (who crowed that at 77, he's taking a page from Betty's playbook) and Johnathan McClain. After a heartfelt toast from TV Land president Larry W. Jones, a very humble Betty was shown a special digital birthday card. Celebs Tina Fey, Taylor Swift, Kathy Griffin, Chelsea Handler, Hoda Kotb, Kathie Lee Gifford, Joel McHale and much of the Hot in Cleveland cast and crew had recorded personal wishes for the star. Onscreen, Justin Bieber led the beaming crowd in a rendition of "Happy Birthday," as a cake was wheeled out. Betty, 89 years young and surrounded by her adoring Hot in Cleveland castmates, paused to make a wish and broke the sentimental scene by exclaiming, "I had a chance… and I blew it!"
