Widespread disruption is expected tomorrow due to strikes and marches against the government’s austerity plan.
The coordinated action by large unions (apart from FO) is expected to affect schools and public transport as well as various services such as tax offices, job centres and post offices.
CGT-CFDT-FSU-Unsa Solidaires say that the austerity measures are “unacceptable” and the government must find “another way to share out wealth”.
In particular they oppose the increasing of tax on top-up health insurance, they want the government to stop the exoneration from employer’s social charges on overtime (which makes people’s work cheaper to bosses), new measures to improve purchasing power and a tax on financial transactions.
About 200 protest marches are expected around France.
For rail travel there is an information line (in French) about disruptions around France, expected from 20.00 tonight to 8.00 on Wednesday, on: 0 805 90 36 35 for TER and TGV, Téoz and Intercités; 0 805 70 08 05 for the Transilien. The RATP has an information line on 0800 15 11 11.
Primary schools are expected to be affected, but minimum service should be provided to keep them open.
